To move one or more files: MOVE file name1 destination Moves files and renames files and directories. When move was first introduced with MS-DOS 6.0, it was an external command that used the move.exe file up to MS-DOS 6.22. Today, move is an internal command that is available in the following Microsoft operating systems.
